Barnes Legacy Publishing grew from a commitment to genealogy, historical research, family storytelling, and the preservation of Black American history. What began as a deeply personal effort to recover and document one family’s history developed into a broader mission: to create meaningful publications that help preserve the past, strengthen identity, encourage reflection, and ensure important stories are carried forward.

Our mission is to publish thoughtfully researched and intentionally crafted works that preserve history, honor lived experiences, strengthen connections across generations, and encourage individuals and families to recognize the value of their own stories. Through books and resources grounded in history, identity, reflection, and legacy, Barnes Legacy Publishing seeks to ensure that meaningful stories are not simply remembered, but preserved for generations to come.

Barnes Legacy Publishing was founded by Nneka M. Barnes as a family-owned publishing company rooted in the belief that stories, history, and legacy should be preserved and carried forward. Inspired by decades of genealogical and historical research into her own family, the company reflects a commitment shared across generations—to honor those who came before us, preserve what might otherwise be lost, and create something meaningful for those who come after us. Barnes Legacy Publishing is more than the work of one author; it is a family legacy being intentionally built for the future.
